Storm of the... Ever!

That is a large area...
The Public Hazard Warning Area is almost as large as ND,SD, NE, & KS

Western Alaska is under a storm warning and public hazard warning in what is being called the "Worst Storm in History."

For those that don't realize it, Alaska doesn't mess around. We don't hype things up. Things are rough enough without sensationalism. When I woke up this morning, I was greeted with an outdoor temp reading of -4.8°F, others on my facebook feed were posting pics of up down to -15°. For the record, it is November. So tough circumstances are common place, especially the weather. So when the impending storm is considered so bad that Alaska has been exempted from the Nationwide EAS testing tomorrow, in case the system needs to be used for an actual emergency, you know things are bad.

So let us keep Western Alaska in our prayers. That part of the state is off the road system, that means that getting supplies, should they need anything, or sustain any duration of hardship, might become difficult. The method in shipment usually consists of boats and planes. But when the worst storm, ever, is passing this way, it is hard to get things out there. So let us keep everyone in our prayers.

Prayer Intention

Dear Readers,

I kindly ask for your prayers regarding a personal intention. I cannot reveal the subject of this intention right now, and I apologize for that, but over the next few days, and possibly weeks, it is something that will need many to storm heaven for its cause.

Now, to make sure you don't worry, this doesn't have anything to do with health or anything like that, it is spiritual in nature. I would just kindly ask that you briefly ask for this intention to come to fruition.

Those desiring this intention have entrusted the patronage of this cause to Saint Dominic, so please use him as an intercessor.

Saint Dominic - Ora Pro Nobis!
Saint Dominic - El Greco
Also, please keep my employment situation in prayer if you can spend an extra moment or two as well. Which is of course entrusted to Saint Joseph, the Worker.

Thanks.

Prayers for Cam and Baby

Prayer warriors, I want to let you know that Cam, over at "A Woman's Place is..." really needs some prayers right now. She is pregnant, 13 weeks, and has received some rather sad and difficult news:
Relief began to fade during the ultrasound. The ultrasound tech couldn't tell me anything, but the look on his face, and the look on the face of the nurse in the room, were both very grim. When the doctor came back into the room a while later he looked very sad.

He said that the baby is alive, but that it is measuring eight weeks (I'm 13 weeks along). More worrisome, he explained was the heart rate, which at 90 beats per minute, was much too low. He went on to say that, at this point there's not really anything anyone can do and that, unless a miracle occurs, I will likely miscarry very soon.

And so we wait. And cry. I've been praying every chaplet I can think of (Saint Gerard, Blessed Kateri, Saint Jude, Saint Anne, Saint Philomena and Saint Padre Pio were the saints whose intercession I prayed for before sleeping last night and the rosary) and am clinging to the tiny bit of hope that remains. And I do appreciate all your prayers. We're supposed to leave for Florida on Sunday. I have a feeling the weeks ahead are going to feel very long.
So please take a moment right now, ask those saints for intercessory help and favor and ask Jesus to cradle Cam, her husband, and their unborn baby in His hands. She is in the midst of a lot of life events and so this of course hits the way these things do: at the busiest of times.

Prayers for the Roeh's

Readers, I wanted to ask a special favor from you all and ask that you say some special prayers for the Roeh Family, who "the MOM" has a special place in her heart for and asks her Readers to pray for (especially for Rebecca).

The Roeh's are a loving family, who have beautiful daughters and battle each day against physical maladies, and yet continue to find joy and happiness in the beauty of life.

From their website:
Hello! We are the Roeh's. One great guy, Tom, who lives with four ladies in his house. Yes fellas, it is possible for the man cave to turn pink. We have seen it with our own eyes:) We have twins, Riley and Reagan, and one more, Rebecca. Our family loves the Lord, plays hard, makes great messes, and we are a happy crew. Our littlest girl has a diagnosis of mitochondrial disease. This is bad because there is no known treatment. She currently uses oxygen, a feeding tube, and has glasses. Rebecca keeps us on our toes. She is also full of giggles, sass, and sillies. Her sister Reagan has seizures and autism (possilby due to mitochondrial disease as well). She is super smart, loves to snuggle, and keeps us guessing and laughing most of the time! The leader of our pack is Riley. Beautiful, sweet, girly Riley. She knows what she wants, is sweetly sensitive, and will accessorize anything that stands still for more than 10 seconds! I am the mommy, Joy, and I am usually the author here. My hands are full, but so is my heart.
I don't know if they have any particular devotions so I will ask you to seek intercession from someone that constantly pops back into my life and whom I always find solace in asking for help.  I ask that we seek the intercession of Venerable Solanus Casey. He needs to be touched by a miracle, and so do the Roeh's.

Please take a moment and say the following prayer:
Almighty and Eternal Father, ever loving and merciful, I adore Thee; I give myself to Thee. May I be the person Thou desirest me to be; and may Thy holy will be done in my life today.

Thanking Thee for the gifts Thou didst bestow upon thy faithful servant, Father Solanus Casey, we pray Thee, if it be Thy will, to deign to glorify him on earth by granting through his intercession the miracles which the Church requires for the glorification of her children. Grant also that other good souls may carry on his apostolate of love for the poor, the lonely and the suffering of our world.

Through his example of humble obedience, may we also fully submit to Thy Holy Will in all things. With this firmly in mind, I beseech Thee to grant, through the intercession of thy holy servant Father Solanus the favour I ask that healing and love be sent down upon the Roeh's through your Holy Spirit. I offer my prayer through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Our Lord. Amen.

Eye to Eye

ExplodingDog.com
Wondering if you could say a prayer or three for a friend and I... we aren't quite seeing eye-to-eye lately.  Not sure if it is the lack of "quality talk time" or if we are just losing each other in translation.
It is really weighing on me, so I ask for your help.

Also, while we are discussing friends and communication - I could use some prayers in the way of "rekindling" some friendships that have gone by the wayside due to distance and busy-ness.

Thanks.

A Prayer Request - St. Joseph ~ Ora Pro Nobis

Wanted to ask for a little help from my readers. If you could be so kind an please storm heaven tonight regarding my employment status I would be most grateful. It is somewhat urgent for a couple of reasons.

As an update, I have been out of work for a bit due to the fact that I am not yet able to be licensed in the state we live in. This has been frustrating because I have been told I am "over-qualified" [says them, not me] for other positions that I have been applying for outside of my field. This has left me without a job for several months and that makes paying the bills difficult. We have embraced this period and really tried to prayerfully determine what God wants from us and where we need to be. I don't want to give you my whole sob story, so I will leave it at that.

We are at the point now where we really need something and a few random things have presented themselves but they seem to be in a very different direction than we were looking. This is fine with us, but it kind of came out of the blue. Either way, nothing is guaranteed and we need your prayers.

Thanks.

Dear Saint Joseph,
you were yourself once faced with the responsibility of providing the necessities of life for Jesus and Mary.
Look down with fatherly compassion upon me in my anxiety over my present inability to support my family.
Please help me to find gainful employment very soon, so that this heavy burden of concern will be lifted from my heart and that I am soon able to provide for those whom God has entrusted to my care.
Help us to guard against bitterness and discouragement, so that we may emerge from this trial spiritually enriched and with even greater blessings from God.
Amen.

Prayer Request for a sick little boy: Nathaniel O.

A friend of mine posted this on her Facebook wall and I need to do what I can. Here is her post:
Please pray for little Nathaniel O., a sweet little boy who is battling a rare brain cancer. He's in his third round of chemo and has a zero white blood cell count. This morning he got a 104F fever and other complications. Too much for a little innocent soul to bear!
She and others are praying a Novena for him and I hope that you will take the time to join in. I am going to post the prayer they are using:
If you are so inclined, please join a bunch of us in praying this prayer 9x for Nathaniel's protection - pray it daily for nine days or nine times in one day or both :)

"May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be praised, adored and glorified now and forever. Sacred Heart of Jesus, I put my trust in you. Holy Mary, mother of Jesus, pray for us. St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, pray for us. St. Jude of desperate cases, pray for us and grant this favor I ask .... Amen."
St. Jude ~ Pray for Nathaniel O.
