October: Sisters of Our Mother of Divine Grace - [Society of St. Scholastica]

The Society of St. Scholastic Order
for the month of October is:

About the Sisters of Our Mother of Divine Grace
···
They are a newly formed religious community of Port Sanilac, MI, in the Diocese of Saginaw under the direction of the Most Reverend Bishop Joseph Cistone, DD. The sisters endeavor to live and work for the fulfillment of the prayer of Jesus on the night before He suffered: "that they may be one" and "For their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be consecrated in truth."

Through the evangelical vows of poverty, chastity and obedience, the Sisters reflect more fully this "consecration in truth" which Christ accomplished by his Death and Resurrection and made part of his Paschal Mystery. Together with Mary, Mother of Divine Grace they seek to be sharers in this death, for the sake of others, which brought forth fruits of grace to a new life.

Bishop Joseph Cistone has assigned the Sisters to St. Mary's parish in Port Sanilac and St. John's parish in Forestville. Locally known as the Sisters of St. Mary's, they hope their presence will inspire new hope to the area as they seek to share the joy of serving God with the parishioners as well as the local community.

These four Sisters had been members of a traditionalist community of women religious in Spokane, Washington for about 30 years. By the grace of the Holy Spirit, they came into full communion with the Catholic Church, June 2007. After a time of prayer and study, the Sisters discerned that God was calling them to refound a community which had as its charism unity in truth and a Marian spirituality.

How to Support the Sisters
···
Feel free to use your own personal methods of prayer to support them. Rosaries, Chaplets, and Eucharistic Adoration are common methods. Also, Fasting in combination with prayer is a very efficacious way to spiritually battle on behalf of the sisters.

In particular here is the prayer to Our Lady of Divine Grace:
Prayer to Our Mother of Divine Grace
Remember O most amiable Virgin Mary, the ineffable power which the Holy Trinity conferred on thee when constituting thee the Mother of Divine Grace. Animated with entire confidence in thy all-powerful mediation, we place into thy blessed hands the needs and intentions of all those who are dear to us and for whom we are bound to pray. We pray especially for the Holy Father, for priests, for the conversion of sinners, for the relief of the holy souls in purgatory, and particularly for unity in the Church.
Hail Mary.........
Lord Jesus, the hour is come, glorify Thy Mother that Thy Mother may glorify Thee. Manifest to all her power and efficacious mediation and grant us the favors we implore through her intercession.
Hear us for Thy Mother's sake, hear us for love of Thy Mother, we beseech Thee, Lord Jesus. Show Thyself her Son and procure her triumph which we desire in view of Thine own. That Thy kingdom may come, establish the kingdom of Mary, Mother of Divine Grace. Amen.
Also, the Sisters sell a hand crafted doll that is a visible reminder of the Sisters and their need for our prayer and support. You can purchase the doll and get more information on their website, or by clicking this link. The doll is $50 and stands 13" tall, the money goes to the Order. It is a great gift for children as a way of encouraging a donation. This is a great way to both support the Order and encourage vocations.

You can also simply contribute to the Sisters through a regular donation. They accept donations via online payment or traditional methods through the mail. Monetary support goes to areas like transportation, housing, retirement needs, health care, and continuing education. You can make donations through their website or by contacting them:

About How The Society of Saint Scholastica 'Works'
··†··
If you remember last week, we started the Society of St. Scholastica. This is a group of laity and religious that pledge to support different groups of Women's Religious each month through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. We are asking readers, bloggers, clergy, and friends to share this with others, and get folks to "pledge" to support these various groups through our efforts in the areas of spiritual works. ''

The way you choose to spiritually support them is up to you. To show that you are participating, simply "sign" your name below, and then post about the group on your blog, with a link back here or to the SSS Page. Think "7 Quick Takes" but for Women's Religious. You can post your own information or you can copy and paste from here. We just ask that you give the basic info about the Order, some info about the SSS, and then link back here so that everyone can see the support of the community. Again, think "7 Quick Takes" but for the SSS.

The point is to create an community of Catholics that lift up in prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, those that dedicate their lives to the Church in doing the same. You can leave in your 'efforts' in the comment box, keep it private and just sign your name, or help them out monetarily.
