Thinking about youth ministry...

The idea of 'instructing the youth' in the faith has been on my mind and heart a lot recently. It was actually the impetus for the creation of We Are Catholic

While doing some background "research" in this area, I cam across a recent post by Amy Welborn discussing comments made by Pope Benedict at World Youth Day. Her column: Pope Benedict's Guide to Youth Ministry, is a really good take on the way we should approach speaking to teens about the Faith.

It really is a must read for anyone in the field. I want to comment about the article, and youth ministry in general, but I want the article to sink in a bit.

My biggest question is always:  "how do we present the faith in an authentic way to teens without watering it down, trying to "make it relevant", or do it in a way that isn't patronizing?" I know that many youth leaders struggle with these same questions, and it seems like the Pope may give us some pretty good answers.
