My Political Views (or lack thereof ;-) )

I, Sanjay Bharat Dalal, became a citizen of USA in 2008 to vote, and am a moderate (an independent democrat who is fairly ignorant about politics - hey, I am a newcomer trying to figure out who does what and what they stand for).

I have no political aspirations, and am not connected nor affiliated with any political organization.

I enjoy debating and talking about current issues with openness, and have fairly moderate views.

I am a fan and supporter of Obama-Biden and voted for President Obama and Vice President Biden in the 2008 U.S. elections. I think Obama is possibly the hardest working president in a long time, and his measures for lowering unemployment and increasing confidence are gradually working. I also supported Hillary Clinton who is doing a superb job as the Secretary of State.

I am a fan & supporter of Irvine councilwoman Beth Krom, since she has been quite open & transparent about her work & family, is very approachable & friendly... we enjoyed hosting her at our home.

I also admire and am a fan of Irvine mayor Sukhee Kang, since he is both a businessman & family man, works hard to keep Irvine ahead, and is a great speaker & communicates very well! He also took a great photo with my daughter & her friends at Turtle Rock Elementary school (and she's inspired by this!)

I spoke with Melissa Fox once, have interacted with her through email, am beginning to learn more about her priorities & aspirations. I am becoming a fan.

I think both Jerry Brown or Meg Whitman would do well for California... they both want to make a difference, reduce the deficit, create more jobs and improve our education. Let us hope that they have a solid plan to make this happen.

I have also supported Tom Harman because he is tough on crime (although I do not know him personally). I have met Van Tran once, and am trying to learn more about him and his views (he's a good man). I also believe Steven Choi is a solid community leader in Irvine (although don't know him personally).

I am a fan & supporter of Loretta Sanchez (met her briefly once), and I believe she does a solid job for the local community and small business, and represents OC well for Homeland Security, Armed Services & Economy.

I am a fan & supporter of Dr. Ami Bera, a family man and lovable doctor, who could become the first Indian American in U.S. Congress. I am also a supporter of Harry Sidhu, Anaheim councilman.

I love the democratic election process, and support local community leaders who favor strong family values, education, health, safety & security, peace, honesty & openness, humility, and treat all citizens with respect (regardless of party affiliations).

I am originally from India (moved to the U.S. in 1987). I am a long-time fan & supporter of Dr. Manmohan Singh, India Prime Minister, and the governing party led by Sonia Gandhi. I think Dr. Manmohan Singh has done wonders for India and continues to take India to new economic heights.

I love to vote and I believe voting is the most powerful weapon of Democracy!!
