So I am pretty excited because tonight my wife and I are going to hang out with some Catholics from our Parish. We have met various people here and there, and she has hung out with a couple women once, but there has really been no social time between us and fellow parishoners.
We live in a small town, well big by Alaskan standards, but small compared to American standards, so it isn't as if there are hundreds of people our age in the area, let alone Catholic ones.
The setting will be similar to a Theology on Tap; where essentially there will be a topic, a speaker, and then discussion and socializing. I am pretty excited, considering we have been here since early August and really haven't felt like we were part of the Parish life. I know a lot of that is our own fault, but it isn't as if we haven't been seeking things out. They are just a little harder to "find." Most people know one another, so a lot of information is passed via word of mouth as opposed to the internet or bulletin. I hope to meet some good people, and I hope I don't scare anyone off...
I don't know what the topic is but it will be interesting to find out where some people our age stand on things. Our Parish is run by a lay woman. The priests are mission priests who rotate between here and about 3-4 other parishes. So I wouldn't call the area 'orthodox' or 'traditional' by any means... so it could be interesting.
