Essential Tasks
1. Coordinates all aspects of product related information specific to area of responsibility inclusive of product flow, planned promotions, tiered assortment strategies and communication to the field. Actively participate in seasonal Creative Brainstorm Meetings, Mock Store Builds and other corporate creative builds.
2. Develop and execute Brand-right, sophisticated and elevated visual merchandising and marketing solutions for Brand and strategic tests of an assigned gender. Coordinate and integrate product, marketing, and visual elements, collaborating with Merchant, Visual and Marketing partners. Ensure cohesive and consistent content translation from Conceptual through Executional phases of the project, applied to all internal and external customer points of contact.
3. Manage test execution to deadlines as outlined in the MPR, division, or project calendar(s). Ensure contribution form cross-functional players leads to merchandising success for the assortment; actively participate in pre-launch sample reviews, partnering with Merchandising team to advise and manage buys to store capacity requirements, store design, color guidelines, and seasonal marketing concepts. Obtain all applicable approvals of cross-functional reviews.
4. Ensure complete and accurate visual merchandising content is communicated to stores effectively; ensure detailed and quality information in documents and all other forms of store contact. Applies to general visual standards for the test/ project, seasonal, monthly, or business required changes - including weekly documents, e-mail, and other as required.



Required Knowledge and Skills
• Proven visual merchandising and creative strengths required.
• Requires an ability to interface with multiple levels of management and departments; excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and organizational expertise. Professional.
• Cultural awareness, competitive analysis, and knowledge and understanding of current trends.

Education and Work Experience
• Bachelors Degree preferred.
• A minimum of 1 + years corporate visual merchandising experience at a coordinator level OR minimum of 1+ years of visual merchandising experience in a field supervisory role (flagship store or district level) required; patterned to industry-leading specialty retailers and involving the same scope of responsibilities. Experience managing large projects and/ or teams preferred.

Physical Requirements
• Must be capable and willing to lift objects (boxes, mannequins or other) as heavy as 50 lbs.

Responsibilities
:

  • Execute all interiors and window changeovers and installations for two stores. Includes: construction of any interior/window sets, on-site prop handling and prop placement (6 times or more per year).
  • Conduct daily walkthrough of location, identifying opportunities to improve overall visual and creative appearance of the site.
  • Prep, in keeping with visual calendar, for next installation or floor change.
  • Execute daily interior-set maintenance for store(s), this includes: repositioning mannequins, re-propping, re-merchandising, and sourcing alternative product for interior presentations.
  • Execute interim window display strategies for critical vacancies.
  • Effectively partner with freelance or temporary support staff (stylists, carpenters, etc.) during installations and changeovers.
  • For each installation, responsible for assisting in procuring/compiling creative and aesthetic elements for windows, including: wallpaper, paint, rugs, fabrics, lighting and decorative prop elements.

Job Requirements:

  • 1-2 years visual presentation experience. Demonstrated experience should include either tenure with a luxury goods retailer or luxury goods product exposure.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance maintenance and installations on a rolling calendar.
  • Ability to conduct installations outside of standard working and retail store hours (i.e., evenings after 9 PM, and weekends).
  • Project Management/Organization skills: proven ability to prioritize, work to a punchlist, and hit aggressive deadlines with minimal direction.
  • Communication skills: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both in writing and in verbal conversation with peers, supervisors and direct reports.
  • General computer proficiency to include Word and Excel.

Description

Plans and executes purchasing style, quantity & quality of merchandise in accordance with customer demand, market trends, brand direction, & fiscal obligations. Ensures maximum sales & gross margin performance coupled with inventory management. Establish control-related standards and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Financially plan sales, inventory and turn for the stores and creates assortment plans strategy, buys and purchase orders in accordance with fiscal responsibilities for all relevant categories
Balances overall inventory for the company through appropriate channels to achieve the highest return on investment
Maximizes sales and inventory by managing the allocation strategy, consolidation and model stock levels by store
Consistently reviews & reacts to sales performance/selling reports and generates pricing and consolidation directives ensuring greatest sells and margin potential, partners with the Planner and Stores on directives
Evaluates store profile by performance of product, communication and travel to the stores
Partners with business partners such as Sourcing, Customer Service and DC to secure timely delivery dates and communicates needs/strategies with the store operations team.
Plans and executes pricing strategies, ensuring greatest margin potential
Selects all products for promotional events in all stores as well as single store events and coordinates all communication with Marketing and Store operation on event strategy
Partners with the Category Director from product development on assortment strategy Develops and trains buying team

Qualifications

3 years of prior experience in chain-store buying, with 1-2 at an associate level.
Bachelor's Degree (BA) or equivalent from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer skills to include Excel, Email, and other relevant Retail applications
Strong analytical skills and ability to multitask is essential
Technical knowledge of Footwear product is a plus
Ability to lead, coach and develop staff to improve performance and achieve professional goals
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other management staff, employees and others with whom the company conducts business
Ability to read, analyze and interpret policies, procedures and other business practices, guidelines and documents.

Special Requirements: Minimal travel required (approx. 10%)

Attends trade fairs and other relevant industry events

Willing and able to work additional hours when needed

Bend, lift, open and move product and related office items varying in weight from 1 to 25lbs

Outdoor Apparel Field Visual Merchandiser (Richmond/Point/Annex)

General Position Summary:

Support the Mountain Hardwear (MHI) brand image, including Brand Shops, Fixtures, Brand Signage and Point of Purchase programs for certain MHI dealers and serve as liaison between certain dealers and MHI for all aspects of Visual Merchandising.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

This position reports to the Visual Merchandising Manager and works closely with Sales Management and Sales Representatives to establish and sustain positive relationships with accounts through supporting them with visual merchandising to enhance their business.

Work closely with Western Regional accounts to implement Brand Shops and manage the process from initial contact, planning, physical set-up through product placement and merchandising. Once Brand Shop is established, ensure merchandising standards are maintained through seasonal visits to retailers.

Act as visual merchandising point-of-contact for assigned retailers. Includes working with appropriate sales reps to pro-actively and strategically plan visual marketing needs as well as communicate other marketing needs to the appropriate MHI marketing contact. Use these opportunities to build and develop business partnerships.

Educate retailers on the current POP materials and fixtures available to them, and assist retailers with ordering these materials.

Train staff and management on merchandising strategies to drive/increase sales throughout the year. Continually expand on personal product knowledge and develop tools for training retailers on product use and origination.

Act as MHI point-of-contact for select Columbia Sportswear (CSC) Field Visual Merchandisers acting as agents of MHI for selected accounts throughout the US.

Educate CSC Field Visual Merchandisers in MHI merchandising standards, communications protocol, and reporting.

Aid in resolution of fixture issues for these CSC-serviced accounts. Order seasonal graphics, fixtures and parts for these accounts within assigned budget.


Specific Job Skills:

Works independently and uses own initiative to schedule appointments, make calls, and complete assignments.

Ability to manage and lead teams of people in remote locations.

Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills are essential.

Must have strong visual merchandising skills.

Possess intermediate level of computer skills including spreadsheet and word processing applications.

Ability to plan and work within assigned budget.

Mental ability to conduct complex interpersonal interactions with people who are in a position to affect sales of MHI products.

Ability to solve problems, make decisions independently, operate independently and with discretion and work efficiently under pressure.

Ability to maintain brand message/image consistency required.

Physical ability to use telephone, computer hardware/software including keyboard, type, sit, and stand for extended periods of time, and occasionally lifting/carry up to 75lbs.

Ability to travel throughout the US on commercial transportation.


Education and/or Experience:

Bachelors degree or equivalent in visual merchandising, marketing, or a related field.

Minimum of 2 years general merchandising experience required.


Job Conditions:

Job requires extensive travel throughout the U.S. and occasional weekend and evening meetings (sales meetings, trade shows, installations).

Must work out of home or a local Mountain Hardwear sales office (requires approval by sales representative).

Job may require hours that exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week during peak season or rush projects.

Visual Merchandising Manager
The Visual Merchandising Manager is responsible for a broad range of tasks involving all aspects of the retail customer experience. The Visual Manager creates plan-o-grams, visual direction, designs merchandisers as well as props. The Visual Manager must have a strong understanding of merchandising and the creation of display within a retail space. Talents will be used in three-dimensional applications as well as work closely with graphic designers to communicate needs for the space from a graphics perspective. The Visual Manager must be fluent in the translation of company and brand initiatives to be realized in both spatial relationships (visual merchandising set-up and display) and how that works with printed elements (marketing graphics, typography, signage). Primary Responsibilities
* Merchandise store environments based on seasonal needs/trends, create instruction to rollout to stores, and manage compliance.
* Communicate to DMs, or equivalent in regards to current visual focus.
* Sketch, verbalize, and present ideas for approval.

* Create working calendars and timelines to ensure timely and cost-effective rollouts of all materials (graphics and visual merchandising elements, direction).
* Communicate on a regular basis with all cross-functional business partners to ensure synergy between all job aspects.
* Create professional presentations to communicate ideas effectively.
* Coordinates individual project pieces and ensures deadlines are met; extremely good follow through.

Job Qualifications
* 3-5 years of experience in Retail Design (visual merchandising and/or prop, fixtures)
* Proficient on a Mac platform. Programs include: Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office.
* Attention to detail, strong organizational skills.
* B.F.A./B.A. in art or design related field, or equivalent.
* Can effectively communicate ideas through sketches, renderings, graphics, and verbal communication in a presentation environment.
