Yes Alaska, there is orthodoxy in your Church! (*UPDATED*)

Sorry for the snarky title, or as Terry would say, 'What?'

But I have to share this news. I was made aware of this last night and then low and behold some little blog (sarcasm) called The New Liturgical Movement posted about it. It involves the Dominican Rite of the Mass (Think Latin/Tridentine Mass but with Dominican Traditions).

Here is the info via The NLM:

In response to the interest of a handful of young men and boys interested in serving the Dominican Rite here in Anchorage, we are offering a Dominican Rite Server Camp. To our astonishment twenty-five current and potential acolytes have signed up! Br. Peter Hannah, O.P. will be the main instructor in the rubrics. Each day a Mass in the Dominican Rite will be offered by me (Fr. Vincent Kelber, O.P) While the classes are private, the Masses will be public and in the Cathedral. All are very welcome to attend. Please see the schedule below.

Fr. Augustine also invited me to share on the development and growth of the Dominican Rite here in Anchorage. I will be sharing a few photos and some commentary within the next couple of days.

So I got word from Mindy, from The Devout Life, that her boys came back rather enthusiastic:

The boys just got back from this altar serving boot camp and are literally speaking a different language! They're very excited about the Dominican Confiteor and the candle arrangement.

You know your Mass when you are dissecting the confiteor and candle arrangements... heck you know the Mass when you simply know what those are! Good for them, this is such an AWESOME THING the Dominican's are doing.
