Freelance Fraudsters -Beware of Them to Save From Being Duped in Freelancing

Before getting on to freelance fraudsters, let us understand the world of freelancing. Freelancing can be simply defined as getting job done from anywhere across the globe mostly through the use of Internet. Freelance writer is the one who writes articles, eBooks and other content for the buyers for what he or she gets paid online. There are many websites that offer freelance services where buyers and providers meet and fulfill their contracts. As existence of bad with good, there are fraudsters in freelancing who ditch people by allotting them the work (say 100 articles) and then do not pay. Another nail to coffin is they use these articles on high traffic websites and directories whence they earn a good amount of money. The freelance writer or content writer is duped and screwed from left, right and center.

How do freelance fraudsters work?

Freelancing fraudsters or fraudsters in freelancing have sharp brain to fool content writers. Most of them come with big project by offering big amounts; for instance, a project with budget between $750-1500 that immediately attracts content writers like a flower attracts the bee. The content writers post their bids on the project and the websites through which the dealing is being done allows them to chat or do conversation through something called 'private message'.

The fraudsters in freelance ask typical samples to each of the content writer who has bid on their project. Said this, the if there are 30 bidders, the fraudster will get 30 freshly written articles that are published nowhere. The buyer who is fraud takes away all these samples and submits to the client from who he or she has won the project as freelance writer! The buyer is actually a provider who uses all the sample articles (total 30 in our example) and submits them to their client. Amazingly, this fraudster in freelance has already won project reading '30 fresh articles wanted' on some other website providing freelance business!

Another blunt way to dupe content writers by fraudsters in freelancing

This is very dangerous. Here, the fraud engages the writer by selecting him! This way, the provider 'wins' the project and then, buyer (the fraudster) and provider are provided with their email addresses as a legal act. Content writer, being so enthusiastic, writes the whole set of articles provided by the fraudster in freelance but forgets to ask about escrow payment. Escrow payment is the safest way where the buyer has to put money (on the very first moment he or she selects the content writer) that is released once the articles are submitted. The website providing freelancing business keeps an eye on these transactions and come in picture when there's a dispute.

The problem with freelance websites

The problem with websites offering freelancing business is once the provider is selected, they cut the fees and get out of the picture. In certain unfortunate cases, the provider is being selected by the buyer and the freelance website cuts its fees immediately (it is software after all!). The buyer does not get back to the provider for months even after selecting and then, the provider cannot do anything. The provider cannot file complaint as freelance website will deny interrupting any case that does not have an escrow payment pending! I do not understand, for escrow too, the provider needs to communicate at least once with the buyer who never responds! The buyer selects provider (the fees cut at this moment) and then, there's no communication from the buyer side. Where does escrow come here?
