Effective Internet Marketing: Targeting Your Opt-In Emails Appropriately

Your online business is and should be no different from an off-line business. The whole idea of setting up new business is to reach and satisfy a target audience. The Internet allows you to reach a huge number of people in a very short space of time via email. By composing a message and then clicking your computer mouse you can reach millions of people.
What you do have to consider very seriously though is if those people are interested in what you have to offer. If they are not interested in what you have to offer then you can be rest assured that your emails will be treated as spam.
In order to prevent this from happening you want to target a specific group of people who are looking for your products or services. These people are more likely to respond to your promotional offers than anyone else.
Targeting your emails this way will not only ensure that they don't end up in the spam box but the right people will be able to see these emails and take the right action.
One of the best ways to get your emails to the right people so that they can take the right action is to build an opt in email list. What this enables you to do is to build a subscriber base of people interested in your subject and get them to provide you with their email address permitting you to send them emails on a fairly regular basis.
Getting your subscribers to confirm their e-mail address this way is what is often called the double opt in system. It protects you from spam complaints and most reputable autoresponder services would insist on the double opt in or confirmed opt in as it is better known as.
People who have confirmed their email address are more likely to be interested in the subject that you are writing about than those who have not. This is important to note as there are a number of people online who simply give a throwaway email address in the hope that they can get a free e-book or whatever it is you offering on your website without confirming their address.
Try not to worry about those who do not confirm their email address after the initial subscription as they are probably not interested or serious about your offer anyway.
Pay attention to those who have confirmed their email address, build a relationship with them by sending targeted opt in emails to them on a regular basis. Find out how you can help them and show them that you do care about their online success.
Based on their responses you will know what they want (because they have told you) and you will now be able to source or create the products or services that best suit their needs. In this way you will be better able to generate more online sales all for targeting your opt-in emails appropriately.
