Accountancy And Your Small Business

Some small-ish business owners might be wondering to themselves "is it really worth the cost of hiring an accountant for a business my size?" well in this article I'll go into detail over the advantages and disadvantages of hiring an accountant for your business and what it could mean for you, read on to find out.
Lets start with the disadvantages shall we? Because that's always a fair place to start, it seems.
Disadvantages:
  • Cost: naturally the cost of hiring a professional accountant isn't going to be cheap unless you really compromise on quality, which isn't ideal if you're trying to get a business off the ground and into serious money making potential
  • Lack of experience: you might feel that as an entrepreneur starting your own business for the first time you might feel intimated by accountants, I know it sounds silly but for some people it's a reality, they're immensely intelligent and may be able to help you.
Advantages:
  • Free time: think of all the time you spend working out how much money is coming in and out and when it comes time to settle everything at the end of the year how much stress you're under to balance the books in a way that satisfies all parties? That's the real advantage of accountants
  • Expertise: accountants are incredibly insightful and intelligent, they can really help your business come along in leaps and bounds by thinking in ways that you might not have.
So there we have it, the choice is yours but I would recommend hiring one, the outlay is more than made up by the ease of mind and expertise provided, not to mention the free time you'll have to spend finding new customers.
