Metropolitan Setting

Dhaka is the capital city of Bangladesh. The city is the seat of the national parliament, government and Supreme Court. The city is full of greeneries, parks, a zoo and a riverfront. There are many historical monuments. It has a growing downtown area. Dhaka has an admixture of traditional and modern life. It is a hospitable and friendly city. Dhaka has an international airport and served by major airlines.
Bangladesh generally enjoys a sub-tropical climate. The three prominent seasons are winter, summer and monsoon. The country is rich in flora and fauna. Bangladesh offer ample tourist attractions. There is a 125 kms long beach at Cox’s Bazar on the Bay of Bengal. There are many seats of natural beauty, including green hills and fascinating mangrove forests that has been designated as World Heritage by the UN.

Housing and Living Arrangement

IUBAT is non-residential but assistance is provided to international students in finding good accommodation at reasonable cost in the vicinity of the university. IUBAT keeps up-to-date record of off-campus housing availability. IUBAT Housing Officer provides assistance in locating accommodation for individual or group of students. Large number of houses near the university are available for rent at reasonable cost and the Housing Officer undertakes negotiation with the owner, if required, on behalf of the international student. Any student requiring additional assistance or prior booking for accommodation may contact IUBAT Admissions Office.
The cost of living in Dhaka is one of the lowest among the capitals in South and South East Asia. Living expenses may vary depending on individual needs and life style. Rent for single accommodation is approximately US$ 50 per month for economy, US$ 75 for standard and US$ 150 for deluxe. Living (food and miscellaneous) expenses may vary from US$ 50 - 100 per month. US$ 200 should be budgeted for books and supplies in a semester. The cost of accommodation and meals will be cheaper if students share a room, arrange meals in groups, and avail the meal facilities at IUBAT cafeteria.
Health fitness certificate is required of all international students but the student is subjected to medical check-up, if deemed necessary by the university on arrival which may cost upto US $ 50.
The student is required to pay for the visa fee etc as imposed by the Government of Bangladesh but the university extends all facilities for maintaining immigration status.
Admission Procedure
At Bachelor and Diploma levels, twelve years of formal education, i.e. Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) in science, commerce, humanities, business management, vocational, Alim, or Commerce/Polytechnic/ Agriculture/Nursing diploma or GED having a minimum GPA of 2.0 or 2nd division. For GCE candidates, 2 ‘A’ levels with 3 ‘O’ levels.
For MBA, 4 years Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or 3 years honours or 2 years pass degree.
For other types of education, IUBAT Admissions Office may be contacted for determining equivalence.
Students are admitted on the basis of past academic achievements, potential for academic success as reflected in the admission application, Educational Testing Service (ETS) test scores, if submitted and referee evaluation. IUBAT is a member of ETS and IUBAT codes are TOEFL-9776, SAT-2378, GMAT-0259 and GRE-0272. Application for admission is to be made in the prescribed form.  IUBAT Bulletin with application form is available at a cost of US$ 15 (fifteen). Schedule of application deadline and class:
