Ask your professor if he would allow you to have an older edition (if available) of the textbook. Many books update to new editions ever few years, but there often are few changes.
Go to the local bookstore (this can be your law school bookstore) in order to get the price of the book(s). Write down the ISBN of the required textbook.
Research prices for your textbooks on the Internet. Popular websites for getting law textbooks cheap are Half.com, eBay.com and craigslist.com. Make sure to match the ISBN code that you copied down from the bookstore.
Purchase your books as early as possible. Remember that other students (not just from your school, but across the country) may be in the market for your particular book. In order to get the best deal, find a price you are comfortable with, and make the purchase.
