Assistant, Associate or Full Professor - Nonwovens: North Carolina State University

Minimum Experience/Education: Ph.D. in engineering, chemistry, paper science, fiber and polymer science, technology, or a related field. Experience required in industrial or academic research in nonwovens.

Departmental Required Skills:

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: The highest priority will be placed on candidates who demonstrate the ability to establish cutting edge research and teaching programs while mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in Nonwovens and Technical Textiles, and Fiber and Polymer Science programs.

While the area of research is nonwovens, topics of particular interest include fiber and polymer physics and engineering; biomedical applications; characterization of advanced materials, particularly at the nanoscale; modeling and simulation in a wide range of applications; and surface and interface science.

Essential Job Duties: Duties include teaching courses in the area of nonwovens to undergraduate and graduate students. Establish and lead a nationally recognized and well-funded research program. Assist with recruiting capable students into the program.

Further duties include working closely with the Nonwovens Cooperative Research Center (NCRC) and The Nonwovens Institute, providing leadership in helping define the research agenda for the Center. Other Work/Responsibilities: This position has some opportunity for a joint appointment in the Wood and Paper Science, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, or other Engineering or Chemistry departments at NC State University.

This position is housed in the department of Textile Engineering, Chemistry and Science in the College of Textiles. The TECS department is comprised of 9 Polymer and Color Chemistry faculty, 6 Textile Technology faculty and 12 Textile Engineering faculty.
