Would You Start A Business If You Get Fired Like in Up In The Air Movie?
The other day I watched the movie "Up In The Air", the one with George Clooney. By the way it's a great movie. I liked very much...
In this movie George Clooney plays a guy named Ryan. Ryan travels around the globe and his job is to fire people. A crazy job, you might say. But, it is an actual job. Many big corporations hire external consulting firms to downsize their staff... because they don't have the guts to do it themselves.
In the film, people were scared after hearing the 3 words that anyone living paycheck to paycheck hate " You are fired!" One woman even committed suicide. It a great drama but it happens every day in the real world, now even more. People are being fired from all industries. Jobs are being taken away where the wages are low.
The question is:
"What would you do if you are fired Tomorrow?"
This is an important question because in these though times it can happen to almost anyone. Some would say, I will search for another job!
Oh yeah! with unemployement rate of 9.6% the chances to get a good job right now are very limited, and your college diploma will not help you.
So, if this happen to you, How are you going pay those bills, house, car? How do you keep your life style?
Thank God that you still have a job today. But, you need to be prepared for worse.
How? You might ask...
Start your own business!...
Take your finances in your own hand. be your own boss. There is one secret you need to know that will make you a success on the web and that is: BUILD YOUR OWN EMAIL LIST of prospects.
If you already have a online business and you're not building your list... you might want to quit the Internet all together.
Your list is your asset... like real estate I the offline world. So, I urge you to start building your list Today. But you don't have to do it the hard way, my List Building Bullet course can help you do just that, visit: http://www.ListBuildingBullet.site50.com
I opened this system a year ago. And I created with the new guy in mind. Just go over the site and sign up for a complementary email course and a report that will teach how to start the right way.
Let me know what you think about it, if you think I need to improve on anything.
Yours truly,
Luis E Galarza,
Internet Marketing Specialist.

Packing for PhoCusWright, organising meetings and reading up on Innovators
Two weeks to go until the PhoCusWright Conference in Arizona. This year's theme is "Chaos Calls - Navigating the New". Promo video here. The BOOT will be there from Sunday night, tweeting, blogging, networking and working away. Follow me via @hughestim or track #phocuswright.First up at the conference is the Travel Innovation Summit. The full list of companies presenting is here. A couple have already caught my eye including:
- SilverRail - rail is long overdue for online innovation and Cameron Jones has recently joined them as their VP Commercial;
- Everbread - I have seen a demo of this product already and the buzz behind them is super strong;
- Vayant - though they have stood me up for interviews a few times they are also trying to change the way air searches are conducted;
- Hipmunk - best name in online travel ever (maybe 2nd best to Appolicious). Can the product live up to the hype? Will consumers adapt to new ways to search?; and
- Gekko.com - trying to turn review writers into affiliate businesses.
One of my favourite parts of PhoCusWright is the "PhoCusWright Surprise" which occurs when I meet an online travel start up(s) at PhoCusWright that I have never heard of but is (are) number one in their category by some reasonable measure. See stories on last year's surprises Localyte and geckogo.
If you are going to be there and are interested in setting up a meeting or an interview please email me.
If you are interested in attending you can register here but hurry. Ram Bandrinathan of PhoCusWright tells me that already the primary and secondary hotels are sold out and there are only a very limited number of conference tickets left.
AdSense in Your City is coming to Seattle

Over the summer, we traveled to five cities across the US for our AdSense in Your City program. The first round of roadshows got great reviews from attendees, so we wanted to extend the program to meet more of you and provide publishers in a different part of the country with personalized optimization tips.
On Wednesday, November 10, we’ll be in Seattle for our fall AdSense in Your City adventure. A few of our optimizers will be in town to hold 20-minute optimization sessions at a local coffee shop between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. We’re going to keep it casual this time around, so we can provide one-on-one consultations to as many of you as possible.
We’d love to meet you, so please fill out this form if you’ll be in the Seattle area on November 10 and would like to schedule an appointment with our team. Once we get your RSVP, we'll follow up via email with additional details if there's still room. Scheduling will be done on a first-come, first-served basis, but we’ll do our best to include as many of you as space will allow.
See you in Seattle!

Passing the torch to the cloud: NYU is going Google
The weather report may predict sun today in New York City, but it’s beginning to look more like a city that’s in the “cloud.” Today, NYU announced that it’s moving to Google Apps for Education, providing cloud-based email and collaboration tools to the entire university community. This announcement comes just weeks after New York State created an initiative to bring Google Apps for Education to their K-12 schools. With students and faculty across New York now using Google Apps, it looks like the Empire State has fully embraced the cloud.
This move to Google Apps will provide more than 60,000 students, staff and faculty at NYU with Google tools like Gmail, Calendar, Docs and Sites and will bring all 18 schools of NYU—including medical, dental and law schools—together on one uniform system. This project is estimated to save the University around $400,000 annually by eliminating the need to purchase, upgrade, and maintain in-house mail servers and software licenses.
Marilyn McMillan, NYU’s Chief Information Officer says the move is “...a win-win: in one stroke, we are able to provide better email services to members of the NYU community, offer a new set of tools for academic collaboration, and achieve savings for the University.”
The community of NYU joins more than 10 million users from thousands of schools across the globe who have gone Google, and we’re proud to welcome them to the family.
