Professional Ethics module

1. What is the Professional Ethics module?
As part of their ethical development, students are required to complete a Professional Ethics module. The module gives students exposure to a range of ethical perspectives and includes several self-tests which requires students to reflect on their own ethical behaviour.

2. Why do students have to complete the Professional Ethics module?
Central to the ACCA Qualification is the prominence of professional values, ethics and governance - essential skills needed for accountancy as it moves towards strengthened codes of conduct, regulation and legislation. Professionalism and ethics is covered in parts of 11 of the 16 exam papers - including all papers at Professional level - and through the achievement of all the performance objectives. Underpinning the educational syllabus and the practical experience is the Professional Ethics module. The aim of the Professional Ethics module is to help students develop ethical knowledge, sensitivity and judgement which can then be applied in the exams - particularly P1, Professional Accountant - and also in the workplace.

3. Do all students have to complete the Professional Ethics module?
Students registering or re-registering after 1 January 2007
- are required to complete the Professional Ethics module before they apply for membership. Students are given access to it as soon as they become eligible to take Paper P1, Professional Accountant.
Students who registered before 1 January 2007 - completing the professional ethics module is not a requirement for existing students transferring over to the new qualification, although they are encouraged to complete it.

. When do students have to complete the Professional Ethics module?
Students are given access to the Professional Ethics module when they become eligible to take Paper P1, Professional Accountant. It is recommended that students take the Professional Ethics module at the same time as, or before attempting Paper P1. Although students have the flexibility to take the module at their own convenience, it must be completed before they apply for ACCA membership.
5. How do I access the Professional Ethics module?
Once a student is eligible to take the Professional Ethics Module they are given access via a link on myACCA.  Students have the option to complete the module online or by mobile version for MP3 or MP4 player, Blackberry or internet enabled mobile phone. More information is available from myACCA.
Students without internet access should contact ACCA Connect to make alternative arrangements.
